Multiple community systems work together to help at-risk youth and families.
SRT® facilitates effective collaboration among diverse community partners by uniting the energies of schools, parents, community leaders, human service agencies, law enforcement, corrections, and the judiciary. Spokane, Washington, is a dramatic example of the youth and family positive impact of community application of SRT, funded in part through the US Department of Justice Community Capacity Development Office [DOJ Article].
Federal and state initiatives increasingly target community-wide solutions employing research-based interventions. Through this integrated approach, scarce community and agency resources have the greatest impact. Research results reveal that, when diverse community groups don’t operate from a unified vision and objectives, large expenditures of both human and financial resources can achieve little.
SRT has provided a unifying foundation for multi-agency collaborative projects in Washington, and Arizona, and Michigan, providing communities with a shared language and philosophy to achieve desired community goals: enhanced school performance, empowered parents, families re-united and young people better prepared to be contributing members of society.
